iLAB are a group of fully independent architectural lighting designers + visual technologists with design consultancy studios in Singapore & Sydney to meet the increasing demand for independent professional lighting design services in the global community.
We provide a range of design services working creatively with architects, designers, artists, engineers, developers, owners and end users. The group can provide services ranging from informal advice on specific lighting issues to full design implementation services on projects of all sizes.
Our philosophy for architectural lighting is holistic - Central to this philosophy is our belief that architectural lighting is essentially a specialisation of architecture and that successful lighting is realised only with an inherent understanding of the architectural concept coupled with an expert knowledge of the properties and behaviour of light. Our architectural training combined with our acute knowledge of lighting science & technology underpins this holistic approach - An approach that creates the most integrated and coordinated solutions for each client.
Solutions that are fully integrated and coordinated with the architecture often mean artificial lighting instruments will not be visible, rather the light emitted from these instruments should reveal the architectural space and its function appropriately, providing clear orientation & navigation, ease of functional task, visual comfort, clarity and order, and where warranted a dynamic sense of wonder and excitement.
The Principals are widely respected for their innovative and creative skills. Each is highly trained in architectural design principles with over 35 years combined experience in the lighting applications field working in many countries worldwide. The groups designers are drawn from the complimentary fields of architecture, interior architecture, product design and engineering.
